There are a few nice water features on the Leoness property.

Wine Purchased

I purchased the Leoness Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 19' and Syrah 19', both excellent wines.

Braised Lamb Shank

I had to try the lamb shank since I'm a lamb lover. The mushroom risotto was a bonus. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. However, I have made better mushroom risotto myself. I plan to eat here again when I go back to get more wine. Note: lamb pairs very well with Carménère and a bit of curry or spice.

New York Steak

My uncle, who is non-dairy, enjoyed the NY steak that he ordered. He especially liked the shitake mushrooms. The steak came out with butter on top, despite ordering non-dairy. Leoness generously discounted his entire meal due to the mistake. I applaud their excellent customer service. Note: buy wine before dining.

Leoness has many great wines and is a worthwhile winery to visit while in Temecula. The restaurant and property are worth exploring too.

Tasting Notes

23' CS Sauvignon Blanc

This wine has an apple and peach nose and an apricot and pear taste with a mineral finish.

23' CS Dry Rose

This rose is a blend of 2/3 Grenache and 1/3 Cinsaut. This wine has a muted aroma, a strong cranberry and raisin flavor with a smooth finish. It was reminiscent of a good Carignan.

19' CS Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine possesses berry, black licorice, oak, tobacco and peppermint flavors. It is a very sophisticated well balanced wine with a good body.

19' CS Syrah

This wine is actually 90% Syrah and has minor parts Petite Sirah and Mourvedre. The nose is reminiscent of the blended wines, a rich oaky blackberry. This wine's flavor can be described as cherry with black pepper notes. The body is lite for a Syrah. There is some acidity.

19' CS Zinfandel

This wine is actually 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petite Sirah. Immediately noticeable is the powerful Petite Sirah nose. The taste is fruit forward, consisting of strawberry, pepper and green apple. Overall, the flavor is somewhat muted.

Cabernet Franc

The nose of this wine is baking spice and floral. The flavor is subtle cherry with licorice notes. The body is very lite.

Petite Sirah

This wine is too young to drink. However, it has a strong deep body with subtle tobacco and licorice notes. It will age very well.
